On June 23rd in Paris, UPM’s long-term advisor Dr. Ralph Westermann will contribute as a speaker to EcoAct’s most prominent Cap COP21 Climate Innovation Day. He will present UPM’s internationally recognized Sichuan Rural Poor-Household Biogas PoA as a successful pioneer solution for climate protection and sustainable development and focus explicitly on the PoA’s numerous innovative aspects, its large and verifiable co-benefits for participating poor rural households and its numerous advantages for potential carbon offset clients in search of premium quality projects.

The Paris COP 21 climate summit, in December 2015, will be a unique opportunity raise public awareness for climate change and trigger real progress on the way to successful climate change mitigation action. Driven by EcoAct, one of the global key players in climate change economy, Cap COP 21 is an open and proactive initiative for the climate that aims at fostering the emergence of concrete, innovative and collaborative solutions for climate protection.

As a carbon consultant leader, EcoAct is often asked for its climate expertise, to include these issues in a business strategy: our clients are looking for help to rethink business and increase their performance. Yet, climate change affects us all, it is therefore only fair that solutions should be collective. This is why we wished to launch Cap COP21, a cycle of professional events to promote climate solutions driven by performance. Backed by the success of the first conference and supported by our partners, our initiative continues on June 23rd with Climate Innovation Day. Other events are already planned for the rest of the year, with a highlight during COP21 in Paris, where a Proposals Document, resulting from these sessions, will be presented. - Thierry Fornas, EcoAct’s President on his Cap COP21 motivation and expectations
UPM supports EcoAct’s Cap COP21 initiative because we want to help promoting the upcoming Paris climate summit as it might be the decisive event to keep man-made global warming within safe limits. - Martin Dilger, Managing Director of UPM
