UPM and sustainable AG have been selected as Carbon Offset Partners of the 2014 CARBON EXPO taking place from 28th to 30th of May 2014 in Cologne, Germany. sustainable AG is a Munich based consultancy specialising in strategy and management consulting in the areas of sustainability, corporate responsibility and carbon management. sustainable will be responsible for calculating the 2014 CARBON EXPO’s GHG emissions while UPM will provide and retire the required amount of Gold Standard CERs from its Sichuan Household Biogas PoA to compensate for the carbon footprint of this event.

CARBON EXPO is the flagship conference and trade fair for the international carbon markets. At CARBON EXPO, the world’s climate policy and market leaders convene once per year to explore new horizons and find innovative solutions to the earth’s greatest environmental challenge – climate change. The CARBON EXPO 2014 Conference Program will highlight the “Global Intersection of Climate Finance, Carbon Markets and Clean Energy“ to promote the transition to sustainable energy systems.

In this context, UPM and sustainable AG will host a side event at the CARBON EXPO on 30th of May at 10:30 am CET, in order to present a current analysis of the German voluntary carbon market. Together with the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt)and adelphi, UPM and sustainable will discuss new market developments, as well as potential opportunities and constraints for CDM project developers.
