After a long validation process, the Sanhe Energy One Biogas Project received the CDM registration today (UNFCCC Ref. 5708).
The project, in which UPM is not only a project participant under the Clean Development Mechanism, but also a shareholder of the project itself, is located at the Huaxia Milk Farm in Sanhe, Hebei Province, China.
The project employs anaerobic biogas digesters to treat the manure of 10,000 milk cows and recovers the biogas for electricity production. These measures will are planned to generate a total emission reduction of 286,000 tCO2e over the total crediting period of 10 years.
