For approximately a year, the UPM Umwelt-Projekt-Management GmbH has worked with Andrew Joiner, the Executive Director of 501Carbon, to develop a successful partnership and a professional carbon offset platform within the United States.
501Carbon has already achieved significant success and market validation, including a cash prize of $10,000 from the Clean Energy Track of the Duke Start-Up Challenge for the development of an innovative offset marketing concept. The company has not only applied for its participation in the tender for the main prize in the amount of $50,000, but was invited to participate in the major ACC Clean Energy Challenge of the US Department of Energy.
UPM is pleased with 501Carbon’s quick success. “This shows that the concept of 501Carbon is the right approach to provide the Voluntary Carbon Market of the United States with the required professional advice and Carbon Offsets”, said CEO of UPM GmbH, Mr. Martin Dilger underlining the commitment of UPM in the US market.
Andrew has worked as a consultant for carbon offset and renewable energy project developers in the EU, Asia, and the US. He holds a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University, a Master of Environmental Law and Policy from the Vermont Law School, and a Bachelors of Public Policy from American University. His recently founded company 501Carbon is a not-for-profit carbon offset and renewable energy development firm based out of Durham, North Carolina. The company is working with project development partners all over the US and internationally to provide Gold Standard offsets to voluntary buyers. The bulk of 501Carbon’s carbon offset portfolio currently comes from international highly regarded Gold Standard projects developed with UPM Umwelt-Projekt-Management GmbH headquartered in Munich.
In addition to the recognition by several awards and honors, UPM is looking forward to years of collaboration with Andrew Joiner as a reliable and professional partner and conversely, 501Carbon will continue to rely on a high standard of projects developed by UPM.
UPM is pleased to further promote the cooperation with 501Carbon and will be looking forward to continued success.
